Strategic Policy Economics is seeking a Senior Consulting Manager to deliver strategic engagements in climate and energy policy and help grow the breadth and reach of the firm’s market presence.

Strategic Policy Economics is a business strategy consultancy formed in 2012 by Marc Brouillette. Marc was a Partner leading the energy sector at SECOR Consulting, Canada’s largest independent business strategy consulting boutique. After seven years of operation, Strategic Policy Economics has grown from a startup entrepreneurial enterprise and built up a varied client base and network of collaborators supporting the strategic issues of many stakeholders in Ontario’s energy, science, and technology sectors. Strategic Policy Economics now has offices in downtown Toronto with a full-time staff whose backgrounds reflect the varied needs of clients in addressing the complexity of energy policy and innovation. A Senior Consulting Manager is needed to lead teams of analysts and consultants in assessing federal and provincial government energy and climate policies, collaborating with multiple stakeholders. The core offering of Strategic Policy Economics is developing the analytical and simulation models that inform policy and preparing business cases for participants in the energy and climate change sphere. Projects are heavily analytical, both quantitatively and qualitatively. An experienced professional is required to synthesize findings into coherent, concise, and relevant client-ready deliverables.

The ideal candidate has:

  • 5 to 10 years of business consulting project experience leading small teams, structuring market analysis and research projects with aggressive deadlines.

  • An MBA or equivalent with a good understanding of business, business strategy, and economics.

  • An engineering or science background that speaks to comfort with quantitative matters, rigor, and accuracy.

  • Excellent written and verbal structured communications skills which are essential in coherently producing large technical reports on complex matters and articulating the issues succinctly to executive and government audiences.

  • A track record of creative problem solving is required to help identify and articulate potential solutions to society’s climate change challenges.

  • Facilitated session leadership experience is an asset to support the multi-stakeholder problem-solving environments.

  • Work experience at the nexus of the public/private discourse on policy development and familiarity with Ontario’s electricity sector and energy and climate policies are significant assets.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
